Why is Romeo Juliet remembered.?
Why is Laila Manu remembered?
Erich Segal's Love Story?
Why are all those tragic love stories remembered?
Romeo and Juliet loved each other and died for each other. Their death was the "sweet pain" that intensified the fine potrait of their life. Bear in mind that Romeo Juliet were still in fantasy land and had not lived with each other for any great part of their lives. Fantasy land asks for people that love each other for now and evermore. The potrait of love is intensified by the Love Romeo and Juliet had for each other, against all odds . They didn't survive the odds.
I was pondering over this issue and it occured to me that I don't remember any love story that had a happy ending being highlighted. I remember Romeo and Juliet only because they died for their love and for nothing else. My question goes this way.. "Had Romeo and Juliet survived, would their love story be as sweetly painful". Romeo and Juliet represent the epitome of love, seriously ... give me a break. ..... I'm tired of hearing songs, where lov is referred to as Romeo and Juliet, where poets use them as metaphors... where stories proclaim them as superhumans who rejoiced in the 'Glory of Love'.
Glory be to these stories of love, that take humankind to a supermanship level. That teach "to sacrifice and endure pain means to "love".
I recently watched this movie "the Breakup".. It stars Jennifer Aniston and I don't know who.. Till the end I kept hoping they would get back together. But they didn't. They manage to leave the end on a good note. I was perplexed at the ending because i expected them to get back together. Witnessing their separation was painful.
Bitersweet. The director is applying the Romeo Juliet theory in the whole tragicality of it.
Yes, then I realized
"O sweet pain"! of love:(. The only reason I remember the movie, is because of the whole tragicality of it. )
